DESCRIPTION
The MP series Madison speakers are the answer to cost
effectiveness joined with true pro quality sound and performance. Not to
mention all packed into a unique dual purpose cabinet design. The MP15 works
as either a floor monitor or stand up full featured PA main speaker. It can
also be mounted on a tripod speaker stand. Utilizing all the parts and
drivers that you would expect from a top name brand, the MP15 is durable and
sounds like a cabinet 3 times it's price. Forget about the hubbub though,
take a look at the specs and features. You won't find a better cabinet for
the money anywhere.
Horn Lens---
The MP15 horn lens was originally
created and used by klipsch many years ago and to this day, is one of the
best sounding, smoothest response horns in the business. Many deep throat
horns cut the sideways projection dramatically. The 909 horn used in the MP
series speakers gives you true, accurate response from the driver as well as
amplifying it. The other ability of the 909 horn is that you can turn it if
you like. This way you can focus the sweetest frequencies towards one
direction or another.
LF Driver---
The Warrior 15 is a woofer designed by Madison. Using 24 gauge copper for
the voice coil wrap and an aluminum former, the warrior 15 is TRULY designed
to handle it's rated power and then some.
HF Driver---
The MP series utilizes a 1" diaphragm and voice coil, 1" throat Titanium
tweeter. Like most, its Ferro Fluid cooled for more power handling and
consistent super high frequencies. The MT5 has been tested in abusive
applications for a number of years now and has earned its respect as a very
solid driver. For those that may not understand the difference between a
Phenolic, piezo or Titanium tweeter, let me explain: Titanium’s are the PRO
industry standard. Almost all top name brands use titanium horn drivers.
Piezo tweeters cost about .25 cents and sound like a .25 cent speaker plain
and simple. Phenolic drivers are a bit cheaper then titanium's but are very
harsh sounding and can not achieve the super high, crispy frequencies.
Crossover---
The MP series uses a custom designed
crossover that is made up of a 12db per octave design for the lows and an
18db per octave for the highs. This allows the LF driver to pick up a few of
the lower mid frequencies taking pressure off the titanium driver. This also
focuses the HF driver so that there is little break up even at high volumes.
The crossover also features a glass bulb HF driver protection. This way if
lightning strikes or you have a serious power surge, your tweeters are
protected. Better off replacing little glass fuses rather than entire
drivers.
Cabinet---
The
MP design is copy protected by Madison. Unique to say the least but designed
this way for a reason. You can use it as either a floor monitor or a PA main
speaker. The jack inputs are positioned sideways and to one side of the jack
plate so that when in the floor monitor position they are accessible and out
of the way of the musician. The horn lens has been brought forward just a
little bit to aid in projection equal in proportion to the LF driver. The
way the horn lens projects to the side better than most, you can slam 2
cabinets side by side on the angle side in a v shape and still get accurate
and full HF projection |
