DESCRIPTION
Contrary to popular understanding, there is a lot more
involved and major differences in PA speakers from one line to the next.
First of all, ALL professional grade speakers use hardwood for the
construction like the Madison M2 speakers which are made out of 3/4” 13ply
Birch and are braced on every panel internally for maximum strength.
Hardwood is much stronger and half the weight of Particle board or MDF, both
of which are simply low budget material.
The M2 speakers are loaded with professional grade drivers
as well. Featuring a woofer with a 3" Kapton voice coil, 50oz. magnet and a
cast aluminum basket and a titanium horn driver that has a 2” diaphragm and
30oz. magnet.
These drivers are matched with a 3500hz 12/18db per octave
high power crossover that utilizes dual glass bulb tweeter protection. Mylar
capacitors and high power chokes are used for minimal high power saturation.
Spec for spec is always a good way to match one cabinet to
another when considering your options. However, looking at the parts and
features that make up those specs is even more important. Voice coil size
and type, tweeter size and type and crossover design are very important in
choosing the speaker that is right for you.
The M2 speakers are designed for linear response in a
professional venue. Able to cut through with high frequencies to the back of
the crowd and emit very pleasing bottom end as well as mid tone and punch.
These speakers are the kind you see in professional venues where power
handling ability needs to be at its maximum. |
